The European Movement UK belongs to the European Movement International, the largest pan-European network of pro-European organisations present in 34 countries and encompassing 38 International Associations, bringing together European civil society, business, trade unions, NGOs, political parties, local authorities and academia. It grew from a 1948 conference presided over by Winston Churchill, leading to the founding of the European Movement later that year; Duncan Sandys was elected President and Winston Churchill was elected as an Honorary President.
